Terms of use

The terms on which you may use this website, the public register and the verification API. Using them means you accept these terms.

What these terms cover

These terms govern your use of this website, the public certificate register, the verification pages and the JSON verification API operated by Securo Cert LLC. They do not govern a certification engagement itself — that is set out in the separate agreement between us and the certified organisation.

The register is the authoritative source

A printed or issued document evidences certification only while its entry is active in this register. Where a document and the register disagree, the register governs. A document may look valid, carry a real certificate number, and still be void because the entry has been suspended, withdrawn or has expired — which is exactly why the register exists and why you should check it rather than the paper.

Verification is provided as a factual read

The register and the API return the current status of a register entry. That is a statement about the entry, not a guarantee about a physical document you hold: we cannot warrant that a given piece of paper is genuine, unaltered, or presented honestly. Comparing the number, expiry date and document hash on the paper against the entry is what closes that gap, and the result page is built to make that comparison easy. To the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” and without warranties beyond the accuracy of the register itself.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to enumerate the register by walking certificate numbers, and do not circumvent or overload the rate limits. Bulk or automated checking should use the verification API.
  • Use the API within its published limits. If you need a higher allowance for legitimate supplier screening, ask us rather than retrying harder.
  • Do not copy the register wholesale to present it as your own service, and do not use it to build a competing register or a marketing list.
  • Do not interfere with the site’s security, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written agreement, or misrepresent your identity when contacting us.

Certification marks

The Securo Cert LLC name, seal and certification mark are ours. A certified organisation may display the mark only under the conditions in the use of marks policy, and only while its register entry is active. No one else may use the mark, and no one may use it to imply certification, accreditation or endorsement that the register does not support. Misuse is grounds for suspension and, where the misuse is by a third party, for the action described on that policy page.

Intellectual property

The text, layout, code and graphics of this site are owned by Securo Cert LLC or used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own reference and for genuine due diligence. Any other reproduction of substantial parts of the site requires our written permission.

Links to other registers

Where a partner body rendered a certification decision, we link to that body’s own register so you can confirm the result independently. Those sites are outside our control and we are not responsible for their content — the link is provided precisely so you do not have to take our word for it.

Liability

We take reasonable care that the register is accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Securo Cert LLC is not liable for loss arising from reliance on a cached or stale copy of a register response served by an intermediary we do not control, from a document that proves to be forged despite a matching entry, or from your inability to reach the site. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Cayman Islands, and the courts of the Cayman Islands have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
